The beautiful thing about brewing our own beer is that we get to choose the carbonation level we so desire! Want a petillant Pilsner or sparkling Stout? Go for it! What I’ll be discussing here are the various carbonation methods I’ve used not only for beer, but sparkling cider, mead, and non-alcoholic soda.
Carbonation, Addition of carbon dioxide gas to a beverage, imparting sparkle and a tangy taste and preventing spoilage. The liquid is chilled and cascaded down in an enclosure containing carbon dioxide (either as dry ice or a liquid) under pressure. Increasing pressure and lowering temperature maximize gas absorption.

NC had better carbonation resistance than GHBC, and GHBC had a carbonation depth of 1.61 times than that of NC at 28 days accelerated carbonation experiment. The microstructural analysis showed that with the decrease of porosity of the samples, the carbon content and CaCO3 content increased after carbonation.
In this paper we introduce a finite volume scheme for a concrete carbonation model proposed by Aiki and Muntean in . It consists in a Euler discretisation in time and a Scharfetter–Gummel discretisation in space. We give here some hints for the proof of the convergence of the scheme and show numerical experiments.

When I started kegging, I did the natural carbonation method (I guess hoping to conserve CO2) for 1 batch before I gave up on it and switched to force carbonating. I ended up over-carbonated and with extra yeast in the bottom of the keg, making the decision very easy for me. Side note: THANK YOU for doing an Exbeeriment without the use of gelatin.
Fundamental Modeling and Experimental Investigation of Concrete Carbonation The physicochemical processes in concrete carbonation arepresented and modeled mathematically. Theseprocesses include the diffusion of CO, in the gasphase of concrete pores, its
carbonation depends on the humidity present in the concrete. Thus there is an optimum limit where the speed of carbonation is at maximal which in turn dependent up on the porosity of the carbonated layer. Carbonation also depends up on the composition and cement content used in the concrete [4].
Nov 28, 2016 · Carbonation is defined as a physical–chemical process that progresses slowly in the interior of the concrete structures by penetration of carbon dioxide (CO 2) from the outer surface to the inside. It occurs naturally, depending only on the concentration of this gas in the atmosphere and on the humidity variation in the analyzed site.

Factor analysis on the dataset has demonstrated that reaction speed is not dependent on CO 2-concentration with the limits tested. Carbonation speed is depending on the specific surface of the lime. The results of this study contribute to research carried out on modeling lime mortar carbonation and on the carbonation process in general."
